EPA Proposal to Mitigate Exposure to Bees from Acutely Toxic Pesticide Products -- Extended deadline for comment period

The EPA has a comment period open right now for mandatory label restrictions that would prohibit the use of certain products during bloom.

The EPA would like to know how this would impact the industry -- The comment period is open until August 28, 2015.  If you would like to read the full proposal and/or comment, go to: http://www.regulations.gov/#!docketDetail;D=EPA-HQ-OPP-2014-0818

An exerpt from the EPA proposal:

"EPA is proposing additional mandatory pesticide label restrictions to pretect managed bees under contract pollination services from foliar applications of pesticides that are acutely toxic to bees on a contact exposure basis.  These restrictions would prohibit applications of peseticide products, which are acutely toxic to bees, during bloom where bees are known to be present under contract; these restrictions will apply to most insecticides and some herbicides."
